Sisters in Christ ~ May 2016 ~ Rebekah Ashleigh

Good day, readers! :D It's that time again – time for the Sisters in Christ chat of May!! I'm pleased to introduce to you Rebekah Ashleigh. You can visit her blog HERE

Hello, Rebekah! So glad to have you here on this glorious May Saturday!! :) Why don't you go ahead and tell the lovely readers a little bit about yourself?

I am a 19 year old Christian homeschool graduate who lives in Southwest Idaho with my wonderful family. I love spending time with my family, reading good books, playing and teaching the violin, and watch the TV series When Calls the Heart. :)

Let's talk a little about blogging. What inspired you to start a blog?
Last summer I started looking at the Circle C blog. I saw the list of Andi's fan blogs on the side and decided to look at some of them. I found a few that I liked and just check often for more posts. Reading different blogs made me think that I would like to have a blog. I also really wanted some blogger friends. So mostly what inspired me to start my blog was reading other peoples blogs. Yours was one of the blogs that made me really want to start. :)

I'm so glad to have you in this little blogging community!! :) How did you find my blogs?
I found both of your blogs through the Circle C blog and I love them both! :)

Aww, thank you!!

Since this is Sisters in Christ, let's chat about our faith. What's your favorite Bible verse, chapter, and book? Why?
I really like Jeremiah 29:11. It is really encouraging and reminds me that God is in control of everything and has a perfect plan for my life.

What Bible verses have really helped you through some rough times?
Jeremiah 29:11 and Philippians 4:4-13 have been great verses that have helped me through some harder times.

Both of those are so wonderful. :D  What is one event in your life that really strengthened your Christian walk?
A couple years ago I found out that I had a hereditary disorder. I had to get a lot of tests done and it was a really stressful time for me. That time helped me to trust in the Lord more, and to know that He is always in control.

Isn't God good? : ) Any Bible reading tips before we move along?
Just to make time to read the Bible each day. I sometimes struggle with this. It gets late so I just read a short chapter, but I need to make sure I'm spending more time in God's word. So yeah, make time each day to read some.

I struggle with that too unfortunately.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most), how much of a reader would you consider yourself?
What about a writer?
I would consider myself a 10 for a reader. :) I absolutely love to read!! For a writer I'd have to say 4. I really enjoy writing in my journal and writing letters, but I'm not much of a writer. Although I did enjoy creative writing in school.

Where's your favorite place to read?
My favorite place to read is on my window seat in my bedroom. :)

Oh, I've always wanted a window seat. =)

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books by them?
My top two favorite authors are Beverly Lewis and Janette Oke.
Favorite books by Beverly Lewis:
Child of Mine, The Atonement, The Rose Trilogy, The Heritage of Lancaster County, Annie's People, Summerhill Secrets, and Holly's Heart.

Favorite books by Janette Oke:
A Gown of Spanish Lace, They Called Her Mrs. Doc, A Woman Named Damaris, and When Calls the Heart.

What are some books that really impacted your young life?
A book that really impacted my life would be the A Life of Faith: Millie Keith series. They are SO good! They are really encouraging and inspiring. I've read that series several times, and I still love them. If you haven't read these books than I would encourage you to! They are just the best!! :) :)

I've heard a lot about these books. ;) I really need to read them!

Now for some random questions... If you had to use one word to describe yourself, what would it be?
Tender-hearted.

Any pet peeves?
This might seem strange, but my pet peeve is when people don't wash their hands after they kill a bug. It is just so disgusting.

I can see how that could be a pet peeve. Very disgusting. ;)

Favorite songs?
A couple of my favorite songs are: Hold My Heart by Tenth Avenue North, What Do I Know Of Holy? by Addison Road, and Words by Hawk Nelson. They are all really good.

I love all of those too!!

Anything else to add? Goals for this year?
I don't really have any goals for this year except for some reading goals. I would really like to read 100 books this year. I would also like to read 20 books from the Bible. :)

Both of those are great goals! I have similar ones as well. ^_^

Thanks for having me, Faith!! :) It was a lot of fun!

Thanks for being our special visitor of the month, Rebekah!

  1. I had SO much fun doing this, Faith! I loved how you set it up! Instead of it just being the questions and answers, it really was like a chat! :) It was so cool! I absolutely LOVE the pictures you used. You picked some really great ones. I really liked that window seat! ;) It's so cool how the bookshelf is around it.

Oh, I love that window seat too!! :D My mom was reading this post, and she's like "wow, that window seat!!" She thought it was yours, but I was like "um, no. That's just from Pinterest." :P LOL.
Thanks for being my interviewee, my friend!! :D

(Also, you're welcome to respond to any other comments that appear on this post if you like. :))

Oh goodness, Rebekah, that window seat is SO beautiful! (And now I just read your comment and found out it’s not yours :P Oh well. It’s amazing just the same!!)

YES, the Millie books are sooooo good! It’s too bad they’re really hard to find/buy nowadays :(

Hehe, interesting pet peeve. Actually, I don’t like it when people squash a bug to begin with :P

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it, Blessing! I sure had a fun time participating. :D

I know, that window seat is really cool. ;) Faith found such great pictures to go with everything. :)

The Millie series are just great! It is really too bad that they are now out of print and really hard to find.

Yeah, it is kind of a strange pet peeve. ;) I really don't like killing bugs, so I just ask someone else too, but it's nice if they wash their hands afterwards. ;)
