This Beautiful Life.

Tonight was lovely.

I'm not even sure what was so special about it, other than it was normal, and sometimes that's where the beauty lies. In the ordinary, everyday happenings.

I went to Walmart with my mom and bought clothes and ate at Chick-Fil-A.

We picked up kids and went to church, getting there nearly late but it's okay because we can never get started on time.

Once the service was going, seven teens filed down the side of the sanctuary into a small room on the corner of the church, where lots of laughter takes place.

We learned about Naaman and leprosy, played game, and just laughed.

After church was over, I hung out with a few of the others. We sat with our feet dangling over the edge of the ramp, looking out over the cemetery, and ate popsicles and talked about life and laughed some more.

And I reflected on how this night, this life, is an ordinary but beautiful thing.

We don't have to have it all together. We don't have to know what's going on. We don't have to do things that would be labeled 'amazing' by the world's standards.

We're called to shine His light. To live, and laugh, and love.

And bask in the beauty of being free to live this wild and precious life.

Not at all what I had planned, but we're going to call this a make-up post since I missed Saturday's post. I'll be back this weekend, and then I'm taking most of the month off. Doing lovely, normal, life things.

What beautiful, normal things have y'all been up to lately? Anyone as hyped about summer as I am?

Live free, y'all. <3

  1. Ahh, normal, beautiful days like that are the best!!! *Happy sigh* Amen to us not having to have it all together to have good days!
Lately I've been doing a lot of writing, and reading, which is pretty awesome. I haven't been catching up like I had hoped, but I'm working, which is good. =)

Yup, that's very good! Sometimes I get so focused on how 'behind' I am, I forget that I really am making progress. ;)

  3. Great post, Faith! I’m very excited for summer!
Last night I sat down on our back deck when it was dark (I had wanted to sooner but hadn’t gotten around to it) and it was beautiful. You could only see the dark shapes of the tall pine trees against the navy sky but it was beautiful.
While sometimes we want to do huge and great things.. often we have so much fun doing the normal things in day to day life - which can be so beautiful.

    1. Thanks, Sarah! Ahh, me too! :D
That sounds so lovely. I sat on the porch the other night, enjoying the quiet...until the bugs found me. ;)
Absolutely agree! Sometimes we have our focus set on 'other things', when the good and right things are in front of our eyes. <3

So true, Faith, so true! I've actually been feeling this way quite a bit recently, too, just finding joy in the simple, normal, ordinary things of life. Like today was pretty warm, but then this evening a lovely cool breeze blew through. I just walked around outside, holding my arms out and taking in the fresh air. It was such a beautiful evening. :) And I also so enjoy to hear the sound of the wind blowing through the pine trees in our yard -- it makes me so happy and grateful for God's beautiful creation and the place where I live.

This is such a lovely post, Faith! You're a wonderful writer! :) <3

  6. This is wonderful, Faith! Sometimes it’s just those average days that can be simply wonderful. Sometimes it’s hard to find the joy and the beautifulness in life, but they’re always there we just have to look.
It kind of reminds me of the song The Beautiful Things We Miss:
    “I don't wanna miss it
I don't wanna look back someday and find
    Everything that really mattered
Was right in front of me this whole time
    Open up my eyes, Lord
Keep me in the moment just like this
Before the beautiful things we love
Become the beautiful things we miss”

We just need to know that God made everyday and it’s always a gift. <3
