Sisters in Christ ~ Ashley Nicole ~ February 2018

Hello, dear readers! Today I bring to you a chat with Ashley Nicole, a lovely young lady who blogs at Colorful, Creative Cards and More Precious Than Gold. I totally suggest you check out both of her blogs. Her posts are always so inspirational and encouraging! :)

Welcome to the blog, girl! Please introduce yourself. :D
Hello everyone! My name is Ashley and I'm a 20 year blogger from Colorado. I'm the oldest of 8, and currently am working on getting certified as a labor doula.

I love your blogs so much! What inspired you to start a blog?
Well, my first blog, Colorful Creative Cards, I started to get my handmaid cards out on the web per say. After I realized how much I liked blogging, I started a group blog that has now become my personal blog to share things I've been learning.

Did you read other blogs before starting your own, or was starting a blog what thrust you into this amazing world we call The Blogosphere? ;)
Hm, a couple of my friends had blogs that I read, but it was only 2 or 3 so I was more thrust into it :P

How did you find my blogs?
I don't remember exactly how I found your blogs, but I'm pretty sure it was through someone else's blog... (can't remember whose though).

I'm not sure either. :P So, what's your favorite Bible verse, chapter, and book? Why?
Favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 61:1-3
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified."
My "life verse" I guess, because I love the the part about how God makes beauty out of ashes.

That is a beautiful passage! <3

Favorite chapter: Ecclesiastes 3
I love this chapter because it talks about there being a time and a season for everything.

Favorite book: 1 Corinthians
I love the theme that is especially prevalent in the beginning of this book about how God uses weak and foolish people.

What Bible verse(s) have really helped you through some rough times?
1 Corinthians 1:27
"But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty."

What is one event in your life that really strengthened your Christian walk?
I've been teaching a Sunday School class at my church for around 9 months and that has really made me make the Christian faith mine.

Any Bible reading tips?
Read it all! The Old Testament is something I've been enjoying especially, and I think it's easy to think that since we're in the New Testament now, that we don't have to read the Old Testament. But there's some really cool history in there!

I definitely agree! The Old Testament gets overlooked far too often. ;)

Moving on to the writing/reading side of things... On a scale of 1-10, how much of a reader would you consider yourself? What about a writer?
Reader: Probably a 6. I don't have nearly as much time to read as I used to, but I do love to get my hands on a good book.
Writer: Probably only a 3 or 4. I pretty much only write for my blogs and in my journals. :)

Where's your favorite place to read or write?
My room! And more specifically, on my bed, either laying down or leaning against a bunch of pillows!

Who're your favorite authors? Favorite books by them?
Favorite Fiction Author: Nadine Brandes (A Time to Die, A Time to Speak, and A Time to Rise)
Favorite Non-fiction Author: Jaquelle Crowe (This Changes Everything)

What are some books that really impacted your young life?
In regards to fiction, I would definitely say the Out of Time Series by Nadine Brandes really impacted me.
When it comes to non-fiction, there's obviously This Changes Everything (listed above) but also, Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, Humble Orthodoxy, and Stop Dating the Church by Joshua Harris, and I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist by Norman Geisler and Frank Turek.

I have not finished it yet, but Do Hard Things is great so far. :D And Out of Time—I've heard that series is amazing!

Okiedoke, a couple random questions. If you had to use one word to describe yourself, what would it be?
Loyal. I'm extremely loyal to my family and friends.

Any pet peeves?
Unnecessary noise! I live in a house with quite a few little ones, so you'd think this wouldn't bother me, but I like my quiet time!

Favorite songs?
I went and saw The Greastest Showman a couple weeks ago, and I can't get the songs out of my head! I love that soundtrack so much!

I haven't saw it myself, but I've heard that it's epic. ;)

Anything else to add? Goals for this year?
One of my monthly goals for 2018 has been to read one devotional type book and one biography a month. So, if any of you have any suggestions, please leave a comment!!

Thanks so much for having me on here, Faith!

Glad to have you, Ashley! :)
