Autumn, My Favorite Season
Fall is wearing pants and a sweatshirt to bed beacause you refuse to shut the window just yet.
Fall is grabbing a beautiful handmade quilt and curling up in your favorite chair to read a good book.
Fall is lugging a box up from the basement and decorating the house with...
...scarecrows.
...leaf-shaped candles.
...and cute window clings.
Fall is the print of leaves on the concrete. (After being gone for two weeks and then removing all the leaves that had piled up, this interesting design was discovered. ^_^)
Fall is onions hanging up to dry.
Fall is the leaves trying to cover the large rock behind the house.
Fall is eating your fill of candy corn, because it isn't around the rest of the year. (I take that back, it isn't supposed to be around the rest of the year. But last year I saw 'Christmas corn' and even 'Valentine's corn'. That's just wrong, sorry...)
Fall is the cute welcome signs hanging...
...on the porch.
...and on the door.
Fall is rolling pumpkins and gourds from the garden and piling them up to show themselves off to the world.
Fall is hunting through dusty, closet nooks to find the sweaters, boots, pants, and coats you put away the past spring.
Fall is listening to a woodpecker, chipping away at a tree in the woods above our house. (I'm listening to one right now. ^_^)
For my family, Fall also means it's almost time to start cutting down, baling, and shipping out Christmas trees. :) I'll do a post on that sometime.
That's all for now! Thanks for reading! What does fall mean for you and your family?

CANDY CORN!!!!!! Seriously one of the best things about fall!! :)
ReplyDeleteFor me, fall is. . .hot cups of apple cider while reading a book, writing in sweaters and a long wool skirt, hot soups, crisp air, the crunch of leaves beneath your feet, time with family, Thanksgiving(my favorite holiday!), pumpkin patches and corn mazes, winter wheat growing in beautiful green patches and pumpkin everything!:)
I love fall! It's my next 2nd favorite season next to Summer.
I LOVED the post! :) It was so beautiful, so fall-ish! :) Thanks for writing and posting!
Isn't it great??? ;)
DeleteI'm sighing over your list... :) I think I could do another post thanks to you girls!! Cider, sweaters, soup (we're having chili tonight!), pumpkin, crunchy leaves, crispy-nippy air,...beautiful time of year!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting!! :)
Yes, pumpkin flavored pumpkin seeds, pumpkin flavored chips, pumpkin flavored cream cheese, pumpkin pie, pumpkin flavored marshmallows, pumpkin flavored cereal. My grandma is the Queen of buying everything seasonal!
DeleteReading over your comments is also a reminder to me of more things that I should have added into my comment. . . I think I see a blog post coming on my blog! (Thanks for the inspiration! lol)
Candy corn. Yes. That's totally fall! :)
ReplyDeleteFor me, fall is:
Remembering to NOT wear flip-flops outside anymore :(
Finding all my fall clothing and putting it within reach again.
Bringing my fall jewelry out and wearing it in public again
Putting eggnog in our coffee in the morning. (Yum!)
Going to the Pumpkin Patch and buying my friend "Pumpkin Spice Latte" soap that smells so good you want to eat it!
Days being shorter and nights being longer
Realizing that your feet are cold while you're trying to type a story and having to go find socks somewhere. (This can be very difficult sometimes... ;)
Thanks for the post. Beautiful pictures! :)
Ahh, I'm glad everyone agrees! Candy corn is so good!! ;)
DeleteYeah, no more flip-flops....:'( I've been wearing mine as much as I can though, hehe.
I never thought of putting eggnog in coffee, but I not really care for the stuff. :
I love short days. :)
Yeah, cold feet aren't fun. :( And then when I go find socks, I lose my writing inspiration. LOL.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for reading and commenting! ;)
Thanks for the post! I really enjoyed all the pics! As far as what Fall is to me, I'm not really sure. I guess it is cleaning our woodstove chimney so that we can light the fireplace. It is the short days, getting out the packed up winter clothes, shivering until we light the fire, and looking out the windows watching the leaves flit through the sky on their way to the ground. It is also being more careful when riding the horses because of the breezes that are more frequent during this season that the horses sometimes are spooked at. So that is Fall to me! (Oh and starting to think about Thanksgiving! ;-))
ReplyDeleteOh yes, how could I forget cleaning the chimney and hauling firewood! =) I love the shorter days. :) Sign of winter!
DeleteReally? I didn't know that, but then I don't know much about horses etc.
Thanks for reading and commenting, Bethany! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
I know this post is almost a year old, but I just have to comment on it since it’s almost that time of year again. ;) I’m starting to get into a very fall-ish mood, and this post has made me even more in the fall mood. ;)
ReplyDeleteCurling up in a comfy chair with a good book is so wonderful.
Decorating the house with fall decorations is so fun! :) All of your decorations are super cute.
I totally agree about candy corn. It’s supposed to be around only around October/November time. But I’ve seen Christmas candy corn too. That’s just not right.
Finding all of your fall clothes is fun too. The mornings have been getting kinda chilly here, so I was able to wear some of my more fall clothes to church yesterday. :)
I really enjoyed this post, Faith! Last year and this year. ;)
Awww, thank you so much, Rebekah!! Seeing your comment totally made my day. :)
DeleteHehehe, yes. I was reading back over this post just now. I can hardly believe it's already fall again, but I am looking forward to a lot of this! :D
Comfy chairs and good books are so delightful. <3
Aren't those decorations darling? Mom went ahead and got them out the other day. ^_^
I know!!! Candy corn at any other time is just wrong. :P I found some a Walmart a few days ago...so glad to see it! :)
Oh, yes!! Wearing fall clothes/colors definitely gets us in the fall-ish mood. ;)
I'm so glad, Rebekah! And thanks for commenting. <3
