For Us // An Easter Haiku

If you follow my other blog, Stories by Firefly, you may've read some of my feeble attempts at writing poetry. There usually quite bad and, because I can never make the lines rhyme, they're usually written in haiku (a form of Japanese poetry).

Last night I started this poem and I finished it just now. (It's still thirty minutes before I need to get ready for church. Between the sunrise service and worship I've had plenty of time. :P) I hope you enjoy!

For Us
by Firefly

Today is Easter.
What does this day mean to us?
Folks around the world.

What's it symbolize?
How do we recognize it?
This year, again next.

It's not about bunnies,
Or fancy dresses and shoes,
Pastel colored eggs.

It's about Jesus,
His death and resurrection,
The high price He paid.

Just for us He died.
For us He was crucified.
For us He suffered.

Took death for our sins
By His blood we're forgiven –
Blood He freely gave.

But it didn't stop there.
The timeless story goes on.
Aren't we glad it does?

He rose from the dead
On that glorious third day.
Praise Him, He arose!

Forever He lives.
Making intercession for,
For us His children.

The pain, the sufferin',
The scourge, the crown, and the cross.
It was all for us...

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5 KJV

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
John 11:25-26 KJV

Below is a beautiful Easter song. It's so powerful and I absolutely love it. <3 Listen to it and be blessed!

Happy Easter everyone! Always remember the sacrifice He made, the blood He gave, to cover the sins of the world. May God bless you all!

    1. Thank you, Rebekah! I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but I'm fairly pleased with it. ;)
Isn't it amazing?!? Our youth group sang it in an Easter play one year. During the song, the guy who played Jesus came through the church and joined us on stage. It was amazing. :)

Happy Easter to your family too!! :)
